2025 NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 3
NEW ORLEANS – Boy oh boy, that weekend was fun.
Here is the Week 3 edition of the NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2025 season, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams’ strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.
Regional Championships Saturday is set for Saturday, November 8.
Atlantic Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Charleston (W.Va.), No. 2 Davis & Elkins, No. 3 Shippensburg
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 East Stroudsburg, No. 5 Concord
Notes: Beware Charleston (W.Va.), Davis & Elkins is gunning for your spot. The Senators climbed past No. 3 Shippensburg, using a 35-second spread to propel them to a top-5 finish at the Locken Haven Invitational. Unphased, the No. 1 Golden Eagles soared to a win over nationally ranked No. 25 Walsh, 71-79.
Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Northwest Missouri, No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 3 Washburn
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Augustana (S.D.), No. 5 MIssouri Southern
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 3.
East Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Southern Connecticut State, No. 2 Roberts Wesleyan, No. 3 Assumption
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Jefferson (Pa.), No. 5 Wilmington (Del.)
Notes: No. 5 Wilmington (Del.) has their low stick, and with it, the right to be considered in the hunt. The Wildcats’ Julian Jones ran 24:46.80 at the Lock Haven Invitational to place 9th overall, setting a program record across 8k in the process. Looking at the results thus far, his times line up with a top-5 finish at the East Region Championships this year.
Midwest Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Grand Valley State, No. 2 Saginaw Valley State, No. 3 Lewis
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Michigan Tech No. 5 Walsh
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 3.
South Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Lee (Tenn.), No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 3 Alabama-Huntsville
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Tampa, No. 5 Mississippi College
Notes: Safe to say, Florida Southern returned to campus Saturday on a high note.. The new No. 2 was just 31 points back of No. 12 Cal Poly Pomona at the Lucian Rosa Invitational and took down a pair of teams ranked top-30 in the nation, No. 21 Alabama-Huntsville and No. 28 Illinois-Springfield. This was all without the Moccasins’ undisputed No. 1, Christian Giller, who finished 41st at the 2024 NCAA DII Championships. Still, No. 1 Lee (Tenn.) is going to be hard to catch. The Flames put loads of distance in between themselves and everyone not named Colo. School of Mines or Adams State, beating the next closest foe, No. 10 Saginaw Valley State, by 71 points.
South Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Colo. School of Mines, No. 2 Adams State, No. 3 Colorado Christian
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Western Colorado, No. 5 West Texas A&M
Notes: Though the South Central remains unchanged, it’s worth talking about. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds faced off at the Lucian Rosa Invitational and spectators were rewarded with a hell of a show. Colo. School of Mines eked out a win over Adams State, 52-59. The Orediggers’ depth proved to be too much in the end, putting seven guys across the line before the Grizzlies could record a full team score.
Southeast Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Wingate, No. 2 Anderson (S.C.), No. 3 Catawba
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Flagler, No. 5 Augusta
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 3.
West Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Chico State, No. 2 Western Washington, No. 3 Cal Poly Pomona
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Northwest Nazarene, No. 5 Biola (Calif.)
Notes: Despite not having the services of the defending West Region champion, Marco Giannini, Chico State grabbed a 34-40 victory over No. 4 Northwest Nazarene at the Mike Johnson Classic. The Wildcats put the rest of the nation on notice, posted a 21 second spread while maintaining an average 1-5 time of 24:13. Western Washington reclaimed the No. 2 spot with a compelling performance at the Bill Roe Classic. The Vikings top-5 finished 2-3-6-12-13 to score just 36 points.
