Cross Country Polls & Rankings
On a weekend that featured inter-regional battles galore, silence is all that arose from the top-5. Most chose not to race and those that did were without their top squads.
The real excitement was found at the Lewis Crossover where 12 ranked teams toed the line.
Colorado Christian solidified their place at No. 6 as the only team in the double digits at The Lewis Crossover. Totaling 98 points, the Cougars roared away from the rest of the field with almost 40 points standing between them and the runner-ups. Matthew Storer, the redshirt senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, led the way, finishing second overall.
Coming in second at the Lewis Crossover, Saginaw Valley State rose to No. 8. Highlighted by four athletes in the top-20, The Cardinals tallied 137 points, going 4-6-9-16. This is their highest ranking since Week 3 of 2023
Rounding out the podium in Illinois was No. 9 Western Washington. The Vikings not only routed fellow West Region opponent, No. 12 Chico State, they took down seven other ranked teams: No. 14 Pittsburg State, No. 15 Florida Southern, No. 18 Lewis, No. 19 Northwest Nazarene, No. 20 Alaska Anchorage, No. 21 Fort Lewis, No. 26 Walsh, and No. 30 Tiffin.
Rankers dubbed Florida Southern worthy of the biggest movement, as they jumped six spots up to No. 15. The Moccasins topped six ranked squads on their own at the Lewis Crossover, and capped the day off a single point from upsetting No. 13 Pittsburg State.
Other teams that moved up included No. 17 Washburn and No. 21 Anderson (S.C.). The Ichabods crossed state lines to compete at the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallup, taking down everyone except Butler (Kan.) CC. The Trojans sliced and diced the UAH Chargers Invitational, beating No. 24 Charleston (W.Va.) by 20 points and No. 28 Alabama-Huntsville by 47 points.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 22, because that’s when the 2025 NCAA DII Cross Country Championships will be held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
