2025 NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – Welcome to Week 4 of the NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2025 season. Regional Rankings are released every Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This week saw some major meets in the Paul Short Run and Louisville Classic, whilst other teams spent the week preparing for the next few weeks of competition.
Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams’ strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.
Regional Championships Saturday is set for Saturday, November 8.
Atlantic Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Charleston (W.Va.), No. 2 Shippensburg, No. 3 Davis & Elkins
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 East Stroudsburg, No. 5 Kutztown
Notes: Leave it to Shippensburg to stir up the Atlantic Region. The Raiders passed the stick to Garrett Quinan and Tommy Crum, who in turn provided plenty of reasoning for their ascent to No. 2. Through the humidity, the senior/sophomore duo went 23:53.6 and 24:14.9 over 8k, a personal best by more than 30 seconds for both athletes. East Stroudsburg finds themselves on the flipside at No. 4. While low sticks may not be a strong suit for the Warriors, depth has proven to be their best friend. A 1-5 spread of just 26 seconds at the Paul Short Run Brown Race tells the tale. By virtue of events, the No. 5 spot goes to Kutztown.
Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Northwest Missouri, No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 3 Washburn
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 East Central (Okla.), No. 5 Augustana (S.D.)
Notes: En route to beating all Division II competition they were faced with at the Chile Pepper Festival, Northwest Missouri placed three runners inside Division I No. 19 Arkansas’s fifth man. Just business for the Bearcats who retain their No. 1 ranking this week. East Central (Okla.) recouped after a tough outing at the Southern Stampede to move up to No. 4. Missing two of their top-5, the Tigers finished seventh as a squad at the Chile Pepper Festival, defeating Central Region rivals Neb.-Kearney and Missouri Southern. Augustana slides into No. 5.
East Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Southern Connecticut State, No. 2 Roberts Wesleyan, No. 3 Saint Miachael’s
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Wilmington (Del.), No. 5 Jefferson (Pa.)
Notes: Silence at the top, chaos below. A change from the regular routine. Saint Michael’s roared up the standings, landing at No. 3 after taking down not one, not two, but three East Region programs at the Paul Short Run. In the Green Race the Purple Knights encountered No. 5 Jefferson (Pa.) and No. 7 Adelphi, winning the duels by 68 and 92 respectively. The merged results provided even better news, as No. 6 Assumption was declared 151 points back. Taking a different route, Wilmington (Del.) traveled to Kentucky and the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic. Julian Jones’ top-10 finish put enough confidence in the Wildcats to give them the No. 4 spot.
Midwest Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Grand Valley State, No. 2 Saginaw Valley State, No. 3 Lewis
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Michigan Tech No. 5 Walsh
Notes: Grand Valley State took to the grass at the Joe Piane Invitational, a loaded field in front of them. The Lakers’ held their own against a higher weight class, walking away with just three ranked Division I teams above them. All that pressure and their 1-5 spread was still 30 seconds, with the 1-7 spread at 46 seconds and the No. 1 Division III program in the country below them. The rest of the Midwest Region top-5 is back on at the Lewis Crossover in a few days. It’s going to be an exciting Saturday.
South Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Lee (Tenn.), No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 3 Alabama-Huntsville
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Tampa, No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic
Notes: Welcome to the party, Palm Beach Atlantic. On a weekend where everyone else in the South Region was idle, the Sailfish introduced themselves at the FLRunners.com Invitational, claiming third place, and with it, the No. 5 spot. They’ll be faced with another test on October 11th, along with four of the top-6 teams in the South Region, at the UAH Charger’s Cross Country Invitational.
South Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Colo. School of Mines, No. 2 Adams State, No. 3 Colorado Christian
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Western Colorado, No. 5 West Texas A&M
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 4.
Southeast Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Wingate, No. 2 Anderson (S.C.), No. 3 Catawba
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Flagler, No. 5 Augusta
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 4.
West Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Chico State, No. 2 Western Washington, No. 3 Cal Poly Pomona
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Northwest Nazarene, No. 5 Biola (Calif.)
Notes: There were no changes in the top-5 in Week 4.
