Cross Country Polls & Rankings
No surprise here: UW-La Crosse continues to dominate and is the unanimous favorite to win the national title come November 22. The Eagles established themselves further as the best team in the WIAC after winning both the team and individual title. Grant Matthai captured the individual title in 23:24 and led four teammates in the top-eight overall. UW-La Crosse won the team title with 26 points and beat UW-Platteville by 53 points.
Wartburg held strong to their second overall ranking after sweeping the American Rivers Conference with a perfect score and an individual title from Isaiah Hammerand. The Knights solidified their dominance by not only scoring 15 overall points, but having a 20-second spread while doing so.
Johns Hopkins upheld its third ranking and had a similar performance to the teams ranked above. The Blue Jays won the Centennial Conference crown with 19 points, putting their entire scoring lineup in the top seven with Emmanuel Leblond winning the individual title in 24:13.7.
Tufts continues to be ranked fourth in the nation after winning the NESCAC team title with 30 points over Williams’ runner-up performance with 57. The Jumbos had a tight 20-second spread between its top-five runners, all of whom finished in the top 11. Next up for Tufts is a matchup with No. 11 MIT at the East Region Championships.
SUNY Geneseo ranks fifth after a unique and dominating performance in the Empire 8. The Knights won the title without racing their usual top-four runners. This level of confidence in their depth shows that going into the postseason, the top squad for SUNY Geneseo will be sharp and rested heading into regionals and most likely nationals.
No. 6 NYU captured the UAA title with five finishers in the top-11 overall and used its lethal and consistent spread of 20 seconds. Williams finished as runner-up in the NESCAC and ranks seventh overall. RPI ranks eighth after winning the Liberty League with 22 points. After finishing as runner-ups in the UAA, UChicago sits ninth. North Central (Ill.) rounds out the top-ten teams after capturing its 51st CCIW team title.
Colorado College moved up three spots to rank in 22nd after winning the SCAC title with only 16 points. This nearly perfect performance shows the depth and power that the Tigers had in its 29-second spread. Colorado College has a tougher matchup next weekend against No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the West Region Championships.
Regional championships are up next, followed by the 2025 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 22, at Roger Millikin Cross Country Course in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
