Cross Country Polls & Rankings
The Trojans enter next Friday’s meet in Tallahassee, Florida, on a roll. Most recently, Taylor (Ind.) cruised to the team title at the Crossroads League Championships this past weekend. The Trojans went 2-4-5-6-7 for 24 points as they beat No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan by 56 points.
Defending national champion Milligan (Tenn.) sits second. The Buffs are coming off a conference title of their own, taking top honors at the AAC Championships. Milligan (Tenn.), led by Ellen Mary-Kearney, ran away from the field with a total of 21 points, 28 fewer than runner-up No. 15 Montreat (N.C.).
Saint Mary (Kan.) held steady at No. 3 following its by-the-book victory at the KCAC Championships. The Spires swept the top-3 spots and added a sixth-place and eighth-place finish for 20 points, 52 fewer than Tabor. Riley Hiebert won the individual title in 17:43.8.
Both The Master’s (Calif.) and Cornerstone (Mich.) remained at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. There would be no reason to remove them from those spots as both the Mustangs and the Golden Eagles took top honors at their respective conference championships: The Master’s (Calif.) at the GSAC Championships; Cornerstone (Mich.) at the WHAC meet.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 5: No. 6 College of Idaho, No. 7 St. Francis (Ill.), No. 8 Dordt (Iowa), No. 9 Westmont (Calif.) and No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan.
