All TFRI Reports
UW-La Crosse, with an absolutely staggering among of entries into the meet, is a heavy favorite to win its fourth team title in program history. If the Eagles can accomplish that feat, it would be their first crown since 2015. Fourteen of UW-La Crosse’s 23 entries are ranked among the top-10 performers this season. The Eagles have multiple entries in the 100H (x3), pole vault (x2), triple jump (x2), hammer throw (x3) and heptathlon (x2).
Loras, the 2019 champion, sits second. The Duhawks bring 13 entries with them, of which nine are ranked among the top-5 performers this season. Terrianna Black (triple jump), Carly Fischer (discus), Alyssa Pfadenhauer (400) and Kassie Rosenbum (10,000) are all ranked second in their respective events on the Descending Order List.
SUNY Geneseo is ranked third and brings a strong contingent to North Carolina. Six of the Knights’ 11 entries are ranked among the top-5 performers this season. Both Emily Lavarnway and Emily Pomainville have chances to win multiple titles as the former is No. 1 in the long jump and No. 2 in the heptathlon, while the latter is No. 1 in the 1500 and No. 2 in the 800 as one of the fastest performers in NCAA DIII history.
Ithaca, the fourth-ranked team, hopes to prove that it is about the quality of entries – not the quantity. The Bombers might only have nine entries in the meet, but six of those are ranked among the top-5 performers this season, which includes double national leader Parley Hannan (5K-10K) and Meghan Matheny, who is top-ranked in the pole vault.
UW-Eau Claire is a contender to make the podium and sits fifth in the final National TFRI of the regular season. The Blugold hope to receive big points from NCAA DIII record-holder Megan Wallace in the heptathlon and Bailey Waldhauser, who is the top-ranked athlete in the high jump.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 9: No. 6 Johns Hopkins, No. 7 Tufts, No. 8 Wartburg, No. 9 Wheaton (Ill.) and No. 10 UChicago. Pay close attention to the Thunder at the meet, as all of their points will come from one athlete – Favor Ezewuzie.
