UW-La Crosse jumped two spots from No. 3 to No. 1 after a huge weekend at the Ashton-Esten Invitational it hosted. The Eagles added or improved six national top-10 marks, including NCAA DIII-leading marks in the high jump from Evan Daley at 2.09m (6-10¼) and the 4×100 relay at 40.49. Josh Koenecke and Seth Holden, two of the members of that 4×100 relay squad, also solidified their spots on the Descending Order List in the 100.
John Carroll fell one spot to No. 2 to no fault of its own. The Blue Streaks added or improved four national top-10 marks this past weekend, including another top-5 effort from Alex Phillip. He is now ranked second nationally in the 5000 at 14:17.67, which pairs nicely with his No. 2 billing in the 10,000 at 29:30.12 (Phillip was ranked No. 1 until this past weekend).
Wartburg climbed three spots after adding or improving seven national top-10 marks. The now third-ranked Knights saw Dalton Martin grab hold of the No. 2 spot in the 800 and both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams earned top-3 standing (4×100 is ranked second; 4×400 relay is ranked third).
Mount Union slid one spot from No. 3 to No. 4 in Week 4. The Purple Raiders were paced by their 4×400 relay squad this past weekend, which went 3:13.43 and took the NCAA DIII lead.
UW-Eau Claire soard 19 spots from No. 24 to No. 5 following an outstanding weekend at the Ashton-Esten Invitational. You better believe some of those big marks were turned in by the heptathletes, as they now rank No. 1 (Marcus Weaver), No. 2 (Jordan Lacey) and No. 4 (Mitch Stegman) on the NCAA DIII seasonal chart. Weaver, who put up 7273 points in the multi, also took over the No. 2 spot in the javelin throw at 63.21m (207-5).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 4: No. 6 Loras, No. 7 UW-Oshkosh, No. 8 Rowan, No. 9 Carnegie Mellon and No. 10 UW-Stout.
The 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.
