2022 NCAA DII Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS – The season is officially underway!
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2022 season, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams’ strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.
Regional Championships Saturday is set for Saturday, November 19.
Atlantic Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Edinboro, No. 2 Charleston (W.Va.), No. 3 Slippery Rock
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Seton Hill, No. 5 Davis & Elkins
Note: Slippery Rock leapfrogged Seton Hill and Davis & Elkins soared five spots to No. 5 in Week 1. The Senators had a strong showing at the Panthers Open in which they beat NCAA DIII No. 20 Carnegie Mellon.
Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Augustana (S.D.), No. 2 U-Mary, No. 3 Minnesota Duluth
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Minnesota State, No. 5 Pittsburg State
Note: U-Mary moved ahead of Minnesota Duluth and Pittsburg State climbed into the top-5 in Week 1.
East Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Southern New Hampshire, No. 2 Daemen, No. 3 Roberts Wesleyan
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Southern Connecticut, No. 5 Saint Anselm
Midwest Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Grand Valley State, No. 2 Cedarville, No. 3 Saginaw Valley State
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Hillsdale, No. 5 Lewis
South Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Lee (Tenn.), No. 2 Mississippi College, No. 3 Saint Leo
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Embry-Riddle (Fla.), No. 5 Tampa
Note: Mississippi College moved ahead of Saint Leo in Week 1.
South Central Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Adams State, No. 2 UC-Colorado Springs, No. 3 Colorado School of Mines
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 Western Colorado, No. 5 Colorado Christian
Note: UC-Colorado Springs leapfrogged Colorado School of Mines in Week 1. The Mountain Lions stormed to a win at the UCCS Rust Buster with 17 points.
Southeast Region
Projected AQs: No. 1 Wingate, No. 2 Anderson (S.C.), No. 3 Flagler
Also in the Hunt: No. 4 North Georgia, No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne
