

2022 NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS – The season is officially underway!
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll for the 2022 season, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday afternoon. Remember that this poll is conducted by counting votes from eight member coaches – one from each of the division’s eight regions – who also do the Regional Rankings.

There was no movement among the top-5 teams in this week’s National Coaches’ Poll: Adams State remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Colorado School of Mines, No. 3 Grand Valley State, No. 4 Augustana (S.D.) and No. 5 Chico State. The Grizzlies, who received five of eight possible first-place votes, romped to a win with 16 points at the Joe I. Vigil Open to begin the year. The Lakers and Vikings also opened up their seasons between the first two weeks of competition: Grand Valley State competed at the Knight Invite; Augustana (S.D.) hosted the Augustana Twilight.
Further down the leaderboard, three teams shifted spots between the preseason and Week 1. Sixth-ranked Wingate and seventh-ranked Colorado Christian held steady, while Missouri Southern moved up to No. 8, Western Colorado fell one spot to No. 9 and Charleston (W.Va.) improved one spot to No. 10. The Lions made quick work at the Rogers State Invite after placing their scoring runners in the top-7. The Golden Eagles competed back-to-back weekends at the Virginia Tech Invitational and Concord University Alumni Invitational.
Other teams that improved their billings in Week 1 are No. 11 Lee (Tenn.), No. 12 Pittsburg State, No. 13 Walsh, No. 15 Michigan Tech, No. 16 Alabama-Huntsvile, No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona, No. 18 Mississippi College, No. 22 Azusa Pacific, No. 28 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and No. 29 Western Washington.
Moving from the Land of Receiving Votes to No. 27 is Cedarville, while CSU Pueblo comes in at No. 30 after not being ranked in the preseason.
