2022 NCAA DII Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 7

NEW ORLEANS – Conference Championships Weekend was a blur!

Here is the newest edition of the NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll for the 2022 season, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday afternoon. Remember that this poll is conducted by counting votes from eight member coaches – one from each of the division’s eight regions – who also do the Regional Rankings.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings

Nothing changed amongst the top-4 teams – and justifiably so: No. 1 Colorado School of Mines, No. 2 Adams State, No. 3 Grand Valley State and No. 4 Wingate all handled business in their own way. The top-ranked Orediggers left no doubt as to their strength with a dominating win at the RMAC Championships over the second-ranked Grizzlies, who finished a clear runner-up. The Lakers ran roughshod over the field at the GLIAC Championships, while the Bulldogs crushed all comers at the SAC Championships.

Chico State and Lee (Tenn.) swapped spots to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. The Wildcats and the Flames both won conference titles – Chico State in the CCAA; Lee (Tenn.) in the GSC – but the electorate deemed the former’s 35-point win over No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona stronger.

Western Colorado and Augustana (S.D.) both jumped multiple spots. The Mountaineers went from No. 9 to No. 7 after an impressive third-place showing at the RMAC Championships, while the Vikings surged from No. 15 to No. 9 following its resounding victory at the NSIC Championships.

Four different teams improved their rank more than two places into the top-20: UC Colorado Springs went from No. 16 to No. 14 following its fourth-place finish at the RMAC Championships; Saginaw Valley State went from No. 23 to No. 16 following its runner-up effort at the GLIAC Championships; Western Washington went from No. 19 to No. 17 after winning the GNAC title; and Michigan Tech mushed from No. 20 to No. 18.

Mark your calendars for Friday, December 2, as the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will take place at Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, Washington!
